The festival will run Friday, June 29th through Sunday, July 8th at locations throughout Saranac Lake.

The 10-day festival will feature over 50 events, including art studio tours, “cure cottage cookery”, live musical and stage performances and a major boat race.

Steeped in a tradition of health and wellness, cure cottage cookery became popular during the early part of the 20th century when tuberculosis patients visited the Saranac Lake area to get the “fresh air and rest” cure. Cure cottage cookery reflects a tradition and history of locally grown whole foods and preparation methods that keep the life giving properties of the food intact.

Foodies can attend a cure cottage cooking class and/or a five-course cure cottage dinner on Saturday, June 30th. There will also be a cure cottage cooking demonstration on Monday, July 2nd, by Lynn Cameron and Kathy Hohmeyer of the Lake Clear Lodge and Retreat Center.

The Adirondack Carousel, which opened for the first time on Memorial Day Weekend, will be running, according to festival organizer Sandra Hildreth. Populated by wood-carved animals native to New York State, the carousel is the culmination of 12 years of planning and work. “It represents a lot of volunteer effort,” Hildreth added.

Boat enthusiasts can watch the 50th Annual Willard Hanmer Guideboat Race on Sunday, July 1. Additionally, the Runabout Rendezvous Boat Show on Saturday, July 7th will showcase hundreds of wooden boats brought in by owners and boating aficionados.

The festival is co-sponsored by Adk Arts, a volunteer consortium of arts-related businesses with a mission to develop the Saranac Lake area as an arts destination for residents and visitors.
