The 2012 Cambridge Balloon Festival

Moon Glow at the Cambridge Valley Balloon FestivalThe 12th Annual Cambridge Balloon Festival kicks off on Friday, June 1 through Sunday, June 3, 2012. Organized and sponsored by the Cambridge Valley Chamber of Commerce, This year’s Festival will again feature 10 hot air balloon pilots flying up to 15 different balloons over the hills of Cambridge, Jackson and White Creek.

The official opening ceremonies begin at 6pm on Friday at Cambridge Central School, with games, rides, food, and the first of four scheduled balloon launches with live music by Robert Wuagneux at the Guest Home Park starting at 7:30pm. All of these festivities will be followed by fireworks at 9pm.

Following the events of opening day, Saturday, June 2nd brings more food, fun, and family oriented activities to the festival with all day community sponsored events throughout the village. Highlights include a free breakfast buffet at St. Luke’s Parish House at 4 St. Luke’s Place beginning at 6:30am and ending at 1:30pm. Other invents on Saturday will include a Flea Market at St. Luke’s Parish House Backyard from 8am-3pm, a Lacrosse jamboree at Cambridge Central School from 9am-5pm and an Antique & Vendor Fair at Rice Mansion Inn from 10am-6pm.

Running from 10am-3pm, the Balloon Festival Auto Show at VARAK Park will feature many classic cars as well as live performances by The Hill Country Cloggers, the Drytown Drifters, and the Tonebenders.

At night, starting at 5pm, the Taste of Cambridge Food Festival at the Cambridge Guest Home Park offers a wide assortment of food selection from various Cambridge village businesses like Albies Restaurant, Schoolhouse Pizza, Eagle Bridge Custom Meat, and Fararra’s Restaurant.

Taste of Cambridge will coincide with the third Balloon Launch at 6:30pm at Cambridge Central School. The evening comes to a close with a Moon Glow celebration at Cambridge Guest Home Park starting at approximately 9:30pm.

Sunday, June 3rd concludes the festival with the fourth and final balloon launch at 5:30am at Cambridge Central School. The Pilot’s Breakfast Buffet, offering food along with autograph sessions with pilots and artists will follow at 10am at the Masonic Temple. Also running from 10am-2pm is the Cambridge Village Farmers’ Market, so be sure to bring a big appetite.
