Capital Region Brewer’s Fest 2011

Capital Region Craft Brewers FestivalThere aren’t many things that are more refreshing than drinking a cold beer or two on a Saturday afternoon in the summer. On July 23, regional brewers will gather at the Joe Bruno stadium in Troy, NY for the Capital Region Craft Brewers Festival to showcase some of their finest brews. The venue is home to the Tri-City Valley Cats, the local baseball team, which will be hosting the event for the second year in a row. A growing festival like this finds support from local sponsors and vendors, as well as nearby breweries in Vermont, Massachusetts and other states in the Northeast. A total of over twenty brewers will gladly be sharing their craft with the masses at the festival this year. The trend of brewing beer is growing on a huge scale across the country and around the world, ranging from something that can be done in any household to a fine craft that has attracted small business owners for years.

While many breweries have started making their beers available in bottles, many pubs still reserve their best beers for tap-only service. One of the leading sponsors at this year’s Capital Region Craft Brewers Festival is the local Brown’s Brewing Company. The first brewery in the Capital Region, Browns’ brew list includes over 25 beers; the company has also won prizes for its world-class taproom, as well as its individual beers. Some award winners include the Whiskey Porter, Pale Ale and Oatmeal Stout—the latter of which holds the title of “World’s Finest” of its type by the Association of Brewers, featuring hints of rolled oats, chocolate and caramel.

Other breweries that you can look forward to seeing at the Capital Brew Fest include Blue Point Brewing, Wolaver’s Organic Ale and Ithaca Beer Company. All of these brewers have come together in such a competitive market to share, grow and expand their horizons, not to mention support a good cause! All proceeds from the Capital Region Craft Brewer’s Festival will go to local schools and other organizations to ensure adequate and sufficient baseball fields for youth leagues. The New York-Penn Charitable Foundation has paired with the festival sponsors and the Valley Cats to give this event impact on the community that supports these local businesses.

The Capital Region Craft Brewer’s Festival runs from 2:30pm-6:30pm on Saturday, July 23, 2011 at the Joe Bruno stadium. Pre-sale tickets are available for a discounted price at www.capitalbrewfest.com. Different tasting packages include choices of a buffet style lunch, meal vouchers, drink only tickets or a designated driver entry. Admission is available only to those over the age of 21, with the exception of children under 10 accompanied by an adult. Souvenir tasting glasses come with most ticket prices, as well as 10 beer sampling tickets for the afternoon.
