SAM Auto Show, Saratoga Auto MuseumYa like cars? Motorcycles? If you’re a die-hard enthusiast or even just enjoy looking at gorgeous cars, then you’ll want to check out the Saratoga Auto Museum’s Spring Invitational Doubleheader Car Show Weekend, a fundraiser for the museum’s educational programs. The weekend includes two unique events: the 2nd Annual Euro Car and Motorcycle Show on Saturday, May 14, followed by the traditional SAM Auto Show on Sunday, May 15, both at Saratoga Spa State Park; the show coincides with the opening week of the Forza Italia exhibit in the museum’s Golub Gallery.

This year’s Invitational field will feature judging in roughly two dozen divisions of unique, perfectly turned out vehicles representing all aspects of the automotive world.

Euro Car and Motorcycle Show

The Euro Car and Motorcycle Show will display makes of European cars and motorcycles of every year, make, and model, including a 1931 Pierce-Arrow, a 1947 Cadillac, a 1962 Daimler SR 250, a 1966 Yenko Corvair, a 1949 Packard and a 1965 Corvette Convertible. As others enter the field, the cars will be judged by Al McEwan, Peter Hageman, Ken Gross, Tom Cotter and Grand Marshall Ed Herrmann, all veterans of the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, with winners to be announced at the Sunday afternoon awards ceremony.

SAM Auto Show

The SAM Auto Show will feature vintage racecars, both historic and modern from Atlantic Coast Old Timers (ACOT) and the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA). For those who’ve wanted to feel the thrill of track competition, a simulator will be on hand that recreates the experience of driving at Connecticut’s famed Lime Rock Park.

Also on tap for the weekend is the premier of the museum’s Popcorn Wagon, which was restored during the winter by 16 area students, who were part of the museum’s mechanical restoration project. Many commercial exhibitors will also be on hand including the Redline Motorsports/DeNooyer Performance team, with many area new car dealers displaying new automobiles of interest as well. In addition to the plethora of cars and motorcycles, there will also be artists, music (Rob Jonas, Tim Barker, The Anonymous Fig Leaves, Summer of Doug and more), food, the Price Chopper Hopper for the kids, trophies, dash plaques and more.
