Get Cooking with Jessica Nicosia: A Video Guide to Making Italian-Style Meatballs

The meatball has been around forever, with every culture having its own variation. For example, in Belgium, ballekes are traditionally made of beef, pork, breadcrumbs and sliced onions. Fried meatballs called keftédes, featuring mint leaves are extremely popular in Greece. In Poland, Pulpety are made from seasoned ground meat with onion, eggs and breadcrumbs soaked in milk or water. Chinese meatballs are usually made with pork and are either steamed or boiled with the addition of soy sauce. Danish frikadeller are usually fried and made with ground pork, veal, onions, eggs, salt and pepper. And then there is Kofta, a Middle Eastern dumpling consisting of either beef or lamb with spices and/or onions.

If you’ve ever wondered how to make meatballs, it’s much easier than you think, despite the gooey mess involved. In this short video, Jessica Nicosia demonstrates that it practically takes no time at all to concoct the perfect (this time) Italian style meatball. Enjoy!
