Beyond Your Typical Course: Ron Walker on Green Mansions Golf Club in Chestertown

Interview with Ron Walker, Green Mansions Golf Club in Chestertown

Golf Courses in the Adirondacks

ron walker, green mansions, chestertownWhat sets Green Mansions apart from the rest is not only its laid back atmosphere, due in large part to the friendliness of its owners, Ron and Martha Walker, but also the affordability that the club offers and the variety of activities that they host throughout the year. The course itself is a challenging one, home to one of the most difficult holes from the Capital Region north. It’s also quite stunning in the fall as the leaves are changing, with its picturesque views of Adirondack fall foliage.

The Walkers also sponsor a variety of local fundraising tournaments throughout the year, including the Glens Falls Cancer Center Fundraiser and the Jeremiah Monroe Memorial Golf Tournament for the Wounded Warrior Project. Their week long golf camps for kids in the summer are also quite a hit.

In addition to the course, Green Mansions hosts and offers full catering services for wedding receptions, parties, birthdays, anniversaries, class reunions, and many other functions; its location between Warrensburg and Chestertown making it an ideal spot for events.

And if golf isn’t your thing, the club also offers other leagues, like darts, pool and horseshoes, as well as live bands, DJ’s, comedy nights (click here to read a review), a full service bar and weekly dinners that are all open to the public. In winter, Green Mansions serves as one of the area’s biggest hot spots for snowmobilers, located as it is–directly on the Northern Warren Snowmobile trail system.

We recently spoke with owners, Ron and Martha Walker about the club’s history and its many functions in our video interview below.
