Carrots & HummusSummer is in full swing and with it many temptations! The cookouts, the parties, the ice cream carts, all just calling your name. So which snacks do we choose? Snacks should fill the hunger spot without over indulging or adding up to a lot of calories. Here’s a few ideas to keep you on track…

1. Frozen Fruit Bites

Freeze grapes, blueberries, strawberries etc.  Pop in your mouth for a cool treat.

2. Apples and Almond Butter

Almonds are high in protein and fiber.

3. Carrots and Hummus

Hummus has lots of folic acid and amino acids.

4. Smoothies

Made with whole fruit, ice and soy or almond milk, yogurt, protein powder, etc. Experiment and find the ones you like!

5. Popsicles

Simply blend fruit, ice and water and freeze in your favorite popsicle mold. Great alternative to ice cream.

6. Celery Slices with Organic Peanut Butter

Celery has long been associated with lowering blood pressure.

7. Trail mix

Dried fruits and nuts of your choice

8. Olives

Rich in iron, vitamin E and fiber.

9. Frozen Bananas Covered in Organic Dark Chocolate

There’s been a lot of talk about the antioxidant power of dark chocolate and it tastes so good!

10. Freshly Squeezed Juices

Make your own or get one at a health food store. Juices are a great way to give your body a break from digesting so you can use that energy for more outdoor activities!
