Lake Placid Holiday Dreams on Ice, Preview

As the weather gets colder, it’s time to break out the skates. Then again, if you’re not an avid skater, you might just want to check out some skating instead. The good thing is that Lake Placid is set to go with the first annual Lake Placid Holiday Dreams on Ice show on Sunday, December 8, 2013 at 5pm.

Taking place at the 1932 Rink at the Olympic Center (where many events of the 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympic Games took place, including the legendary Miracle on Ice game between the US and USSR), this fun program will feature several Olympic hopefuls as well as former Olympians, including special guests two-time Olympic Champions Oleg and Ludmila Protopopov, winners of the gold at the 1964 and 1968 Winter Olympic Games.

In addition to the Protopopovs, will be 1994 Olympian in pairs figure skating Karen Courtland Kelly and 1992 and 1994 speed skating Olympian Patrick Kelly. Skaters from Lake Placid and throughout the region will also be participating in this unique event, that will commemorate historic Olympic moments while also celebrating the holiday season.

Produced and Directed by Christie Sausa, this skating extravaganza will top off a weekend of neat activities and events that comprise the Lake Placid Holiday Village Stroll. The Stroll is a Lake Placid tradition, filled with a variety of events, entertainment, parties, dining specials and plenty of shopping within the area.

The Stroll also features plenty of activities for kids, including a guest appearance by none other than Santa Claus himself, as well as dining specials and live entertainment into the late evening hours for adults.

Admission is $8 for adults and $5 for children. For more information contact Christie Sausa at 518-637-8078. For lodging packages, as well as a map and events for the Holiday Village Stroll, visit
