Moped and Scooter Rally, Albany

'A Town Rumble Moped & Scooter RallyThis time of year the weather is finally beautiful in our neck of the woods and many of us have a lot to be thankful for.  That’s part of the reason why you ought to consider making room on your calendar for the second annual ‘A-Town Rumble Moped and Scooter Rally’ on July 9. The other reason–well, it actually looks fun.

The Rally, which takes riders through a wide array of points of interest in the Capital Region, provides 100% of the registration fees to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

For the $25 registration fee you get: a Rally T-Shirt, refreshments, free moped/scooter pickup if yours breaks down, and most importantly, a guided tour through the Capital District, which should be an asset for all, especially out-of-towners.

The actual itinerary is split in two routes—one for lesser powered moped and scooters (>50cc) and one for the over 50cc crowd.

The event organizers promise that “Along the way we will visit Parks, the state Capital, Dead Presidents and a Waterfall,” all concluding in a lunch at a floating restaurant.

Last year, the Rally was able to generate $5,000 for JDRF, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, as well as raise awareness.

The ride, which begins at noon, starts at the Capital District Farmers Market in Menands.  Registration is at 10am. Also on site will be vendors selling the the best local plants, produce, maple products, potato chips, cupcakes, coffee, nuts, granola, meats and jewelry. Catholic Charities will be the featured Community Vendor.
