The Vegetarian Expo Returns to Albany

Photo Courtesy of NyVegetarianExpo.comThe fourth annual NY Capital Region Vegetarian Expo will convey the global health benefits of green sustainable living, environmental awareness, and compassion for animals and all beings on Saturday, November 17th from 10am to 5pm. The event will be held at the Polish Community Center on Washington Avenue Extension in Albany.

Hosted by the Albany Vegetarian Network, the day-long event will feature nationally recognized speakers who will talk about lowering your risk for cancer, heart disease, weight loss, diabetes and osteoporosis. There will also be food and fitness demonstrations and children’s activities.

Animal liberation activist Peter Young will present Making the Animal Rights Movement a Threat Again at 12:30pm. An animal activist for 15 years, Young was the first person charged with Animal Enterprise Terrorism after carrying out actions involving the release of thousands of mink from midwest fur farms in 1990s.

Nationally recognized speaker Michael Greger, M.D. will provide the latest information about nutrition for the vegetarian community at 1:40pm. A founding member of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine, Greger, is an expert on nutrition, food safety, and public health issues. His Nutrition Facts website covers a wide variety of health topics, ranging from plant-based omega-3 supplementation to Gerston Therapy for cancer.

Vegan bodybuilder Robert Cheeke will talk about how to build a better body on a plant-based diet at 2:30 p.m. A two-time natural bodybuilding champion, Robert has been considered one of VegNews Magazine’s most influential Vegan athletes.

Other speakers will include sprout expert Steve Meyerowitz, Jenny Brown of the Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary, health blogger Mary Clifton, M.D., and registered dietitian George Eisman.
