Pizza so Good It’s Organic

Print Friendly

Harvest & HearthPizza is either delicious, or utterly forgettable. Harvest & Hearth, located in Saratoga Springs, serves up the delicious variety.

Harvest & Hearth is a relatively new addition to the town of Saratoga Springs, having opened in October of 2008. The proprietors of the restaurant, Peter and Gina Michelin, picked a great locale, equipped with comfortable indoor seating and outdoor seating for those warm summer months. You can sit back in Adirondack chairs, overlooking the creek, as you watch the setting sun and enjoy your meal or drinks.

Our table ordered three large artisan pizzas: Olivia’s Organic with all natural whole milk mozzarella, served with asiago cheeses, fresh organic herbs, and garlic infused organic extra virgin olive oil; The Shrooms, a wild mushroom blend, caramelized onions, all natural fontina and mozzarella cheeses and fresh organic herbs; and Sammy’s Free Range BBQ Chicken, with organic BBQ sauce and fire-roasted free range chicken, red onions, smoked gouda, and all natural mozzarella and organic herbs.

The pizzas were large, but so delectable that two people easily devoured one pie. I can honestly say this was the best wood fired pizza I’ve had in a long time. Prices range from $13 to $18 for a large and $7 to $9 for a small. The menu also has daily specials, salads and desserts.

Harvest & Hearth supports local & New England based organic farming communities, and uses all natural products in their pizzas. Their pizza dough is made with water from the natural springs in Saratoga. And this is one place that you’ll definitely want to save up room for dessert, for the wood-fired, double chocolate brownies, with all-natural vanilla bean ice cream and fresh, organic whipped cream is not to be missed.

Most of Harvest & Hearth’s fruits and vegetables are locally grown and either certified natural or organic. Aside from the usual offerings for drinks, they also specialize in organic New York State and New England beers and wines.

As their website says, “In sharing a meal at Harvest & Hearth, you are choosing sustainability, conservation, simplicity, integrity, loyalty, and the importance of family and home.” To that I would add, you are choosing delicious food, a great atmosphere and originality all at an affordable price.

You can eat in and enjoy the scenery, or you can take the pizza home. However, unless your home overlooks a creek and has a gorgeous view of the sunset, I suggest you eat at the restaurant.

Harvest & Hearth is located at 251-B County Route 67 (Stafford Bridge Rd.) in Saratoga Springs.
