Saratoga Restaurant Week 2011

$18.19 for a 3 Course Meal at Participating Saratoga Restaurants this December

Sushi Thai GardenSo you want to go out to dinner but you don’t want to spend a lot. No problem, right? Except as soon as you open the menu, you realize you have to get an appetizer. I mean, they look totally awesome, so it doesn’t really matter that it costs nine bucks. You’ll make up for it by getting a cheap entrée. Except…ooh. They have seafood. Seafood is always more pricey, but really, when you think about it, $24 isn’t that bad. Okay. So you’re spending over $30—but that’s not really that much, even after you pay six bucks for dessert. (Which you’re totally getting. Don’t pretend you’re not.) And as long as you’re getting dessert, you might as well get wine, too. Which means that when the bill comes, you’re paying around $100 for two people. Fun, but not feasible for every day.

Want to solve this problem? Starting December 2, you can, with Saratoga Restaurant Week. From Friday, December 2 to Thursday, December 8, participating Saratoga restaurants are offering a three course meal, meaning you get an appetizer or salad, entrée, and dessert for $18.19 (not including tax and tip). A few select restaurants are also offering lunch specials for $9.09. The seemingly arbitrary pricing is actually a nod to the year 1819— the year in which Saratoga Springs was officially established as a town.

There’s little promotional hoo-hah here, so you don’t have to worry about doing anything special to get the discount; just show up at any of the 31 restaurants participating in Restaurant Week— including Lillian’s Restaurant, the Local Pub & Teahouse, Capriccio Saratoga, Bookmakers at Holiday Inn, Gaffney’s Restaurant, Irish Times Pub, Jacob & Anthony’s American Grille, Karavalli Regional Cuisine of India, Maestro’s at the Van Dam, Phila Fusion, Putnam’s at Gideon Putnam Resort, Ravenous, Sushi Thai Garden, Wheatfields Bistro & Wine Bar and Chianti Il Ristorante— and you’ll only pay $18.19. Local hotels are also offering discounted rates.

For a list of participating restaurants, visit www.discoversaratoga.org/restaurantweek. You can also fill out a survey at any restaurant and enter to win a Saratoga Gift Package, which includes gift certificates, food, an overnight stay at a hotel, and more. Bon appétit!
